Our Faculty Hosts the UNILIG Türkiye Taekwondo Championship with the Participation of 55 Universities

ÜNİLİG Turkey Teakwondo Championship, hosted by Bartın University (BARÜ) and organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation, started with the participation of 286 athletes from 55 universities.

151 male and 135 female athletes from 55 universities are participating in the UNILIG Turkey Teakwondo Championship, which started in the halls of Bartın University (BARÜ) Faculty of Sports Sciences. There are 60 referees, 60 coaches and 55 administrators in the competitions organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation. Athletes who rank well in the competitions to be held over 4 days in different categories will also have the right to participate in the World University Games (FISU) to be held in Sichuan, China between 20 July and 8 August.

Expressing his happiness for hosting the championship, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun said that they are taking determined steps towards the future with the aim of adding value to the future of "Turkish Sports".

Rector Uzun said, “We are making great efforts to prepare our youth, whom we see as the most valuable capital of our country, for the future. We try to stand by our students and move forward together, knowing that their energy will brighten our future. We continue our academic and sports activities accompanied by competent academicians in one of the largest sports complexes of our country, with sports fields of international standards for 17 different branches. We write and will continue to write success stories with the motivation we derive from our belief in the strong Turkey of tomorrow. With these thoughts, our President of the Turkish University Sports Federation, who follows and supports our university closely. "I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the championship organized together with Prof. Dr. Mr. Mehmet Günay," he said.

Touching on the importance of UNILIG competitions, President of the Turkish University Sports Federation, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Günay said that, as a country, they are taking firm steps towards becoming a brand in sports.

Referring to BARÜ's achievements in the field of sports, Günay said, “Our universities are of great importance for the future of Turkish sports. Sports activities are very valuable for the physical and mental health of athletes, as well as for spreading sports culture and discovering young talents. Along with the facilities at international standards in our higher education institutions, education and academic activities make significant contributions to the development of sports. At this point, I find the studies at Bartın University very valuable. BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. for their sensitivity and support in making our country have a say in sports.
